Dortmund's "Tatort" Commissioner is departing
Stefanie Reinsperger, the acclaimed Austrian actress, has announced her plans to focus on various film and television productions, as well as her permanent engagement at the Vienna Burgtheater.
Reinsperger's journey with the Burgtheater began in the 2024/25 season, where she returned as an ensemble member. In the upcoming season, she will be seen performing in Peter Handke's "Self-Accusation" and the monologue "Elisabeth!" by Mareike Fallwickl.
The monologue "Elisabeth!" sees Reinsperger portraying the former Austrian Empress Sisi, a role that presents a feminist perspective on the historical figure. Her performance in "Elisabeth!" will be followed by another intriguing role in the play "Heile Welt", where she investigates the murder of a pregnant woman in a high-rise settlement.
Reinsperger made her mark in the Dortmund "Tatort" series, taking over the role of the lead criminal investigator from Aylin Tezel. Her first case was "Heile Welt", and her final appearance as a Dortmund investigator will be in the episode "Pain", airing next year. This episode will see Reinsperger investigating murder cases whose motives date back to the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s.
Reinsperger's last "Tatort" appearance titled "Schmerz" will air in the first quarter of 2026. Despite her departure from the series, she remains excited about the new projects and roles that lie ahead.
With her permanent engagement at the Vienna Burgtheater, Reinsperger will now take on different themes on the stage, showcasing her versatility as an actress. She looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that these new projects will bring.
