Rise in Utility Fees in Neu-Isenburg: Amendment of Dust and Rainwater Costs
In a recent announcement, the city of Neu-Isenburg has revealed plans for increases in water, sewage, and stormwater charges, effective from January 1, 2025.
The most significant change will be seen in sewage charges, which will rise from 1.45 euros to 2.47 euros per cubic meter. This increase will translate to a monthly burden of 15.11 euros for an average family. The city's statement asserts that Neu-Isenburg remains in the middle range compared to other municipalities in the Offenbach district.
The stormwater canal charge will also see an increase, rising from 8.11 euros to 8.72 euros per 10 square meters.
The city has highlighted that these increases are based on the cost coverage principle to cover increased costs and legal requirements. Additional investments are necessary for thermal utilization of sewage sludge and the recovery of raw materials due to new legal requirements.
Significant investments are being made in the city's water infrastructure. The stormwater pumping station Gravenbruch will cost 8.6 million euros for investments, while the expansion of sewage lift stations and stormwater overflow basins will cost 1.8 million euros. The total planned investments for wastewater infrastructure by 2029 will be around 28 million euros.
However, it's important to note that the drinking water price remains unchanged, set by the municipal utilities.
The city has attributed the rise in annual costs for wastewater transport and treatment from 1.818 million euros to 2.646 million euros to the impacts of the Corona pandemic and the Ukraine war, which have caused construction costs to rise significantly. Additionally, no reserves could be used in the current calculation, as was the case in 2017 when 3.8 million euros were offset against fees.
For a four-person family living in a single-family house with 100 square meters of sealed area and a water consumption of 120 liters per person per day, the annual additional costs due to these increases are expected to be 181.30 euros.
The city's separate system for sewage and stormwater, used in Neu-Isenburg and Gravenbruch, is more expensive but contributes to environmental protection. Unfortunately, the planned investments by 2029 are not specified in the provided information.
As for when these increases in wastewater and stormwater sewer charges will come into effect, there are no relevant search results available at this time.
